Meet our E-Board

Justin Rydzewski

Position: Vice-President                           Year: Senior                                              Major: Business

I joined Albany Sports Business Organization my freshman year because I saw it as a great opportunity to stay connected with sports. I had played competitive sports since I was four years old all the way through varsity baseball and basketball. When searching for schools, I decided it would be best to put my athletic career in the past and focus on my future in business. When ASBO was founded, I was immediately enticed, because now there was an option to combine both my passions. Although I no longer play sports at the same intensity as I used to, I can still be involved in the sports world. This is a great organization and has opened many doors for me throughout my college life.

Michael Slattery

Position: Vice-President                           Year: Senior                                              Major: Business Administration and History

I have a huge passion for sports, I spend more time than I should checking Bleacher Report, ESPN and my fantasy teams. I grew up playing travel soccer and basketball before I began running Cross Country and Track full time. All of this accumulated to winning the State Championship in Cross Country with my team in 2012. Now that I’m in college and not competing every weekend I needed to fill that void, so why not in the sport business industry? That's when I joined ASBO and eventually got onto the Executive Board as the Fundraising Chairman in my Sophomore Year and moved to the Sponsorship Chairman position as a Junior. Entering my Senior Year I am very excited to lead ASBO from the Vice President position and I plan to leave the club ready for success years to come.

Emma Blodgett

Position: Director of Member Services                    Year: Junior                                              Major: Accounting and Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Management

For most of my life I have always loved playing and watching sports. In high school I played basketball and soccer. When I came to Albany I knew I wouldn’t be playing sports competitively anymore but I still wanted to be involved in the sports world. ASBO was the perfect fit for me! After joining my freshman year, I loved the atmosphere and events ASBO put on and I knew I wanted to join E-Board to help continue the success of this club. I am excited to have been brought on as the Director of Member Services! My goal is to make this club as beneficial to our members as possible!

Rainer Alvarado

Position: Director of IT                                       Year: Senior                                              Major: Computer Science                                Minor: Homeland Security, Emerg. Prep, Cybersecurity

Sports has always been a huge passion of mine. It always seems to be the topic of conversation when I am speaking to someone. I knew joining ASBO would allow me to not only enjoy watching games and visiting stadiums I've never been to but it also allows me to grow professionally and expand my network. Taking on this role my goal is to increase ASBO's involvement around campus and help students who want to work in athletics.

Connor Judd

Sports nerd who grew up playing and watching sports. I'm a huge Red Sox and Bills fan and love talking sports. ASBO gives me a chance to see the behind-the-scenes aspect of sports and ultimately puts me in a position to achieve my lifelong dream of working in athletics. I look forward to contributing to the club in new ways as an E-Board member this fall.

Ryan Christian

Position: Fundraising Chair                                Year: Junior                                              Major: Marketing and Management

My name is Ryan Christian; I am an economics major and business minor at UAlbany. I'm in my senior year and my first as apart of the ASBO eboard. I'm the fundraiser chair and I'm responsible for setting up fundraisers to raise money for the club. I always loved sports; I played football, basketball and baseball growing up. I am a diehard jets and Yankees fan (rough year for us jets fans) I joined ASBO to meet people interested in sports like me and to listen to the speakers coming in. I remember how excited I was to meet Dan Hatman; he was a speaker brought it who set up his own scouting academy and was once an NFL scout. He was a scout for the jets during the Rex ryan days; needless to say I had a lot of questions for him. I'm excited to continue to grow this club and connect students on campus who have an interest in sports!

Luc Sandler

Position: Community Service Chair                        Year: Junior                                              Major: Business Administration w/ Marketing & Finance concentration

Business and sports are two of my biggest passions. I knew I wanted to work in sports since I was ten years old and realized that if I was going to be a part of professional sports, it wouldn’t be from my athletic talents. When I was in tenth grade, I got my first start in the industry as a clubhouse staff member for the Long Island Ducks, a position in which I still hold today. Coming into Albany my freshman year, I was looking for a medium to further my sports business interests. My cousin had mentioned to me that there was a club on campus called ASBO and I knew I had to join it. Thanks to ASBO, I eventually got my first front office internship with the Albany Dutchmen after ASBO brought them in to speak. Now, as a first-year member of E-Board, I hope to execute new and exciting community service events as well as assist in the recruitment of guest speakers.

Jonathan Barnett

Position: Treasurer                                                  Year: Senior                                            Major: Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing and Information Technology Management

Since I can remember, sports have always been a big part of my life. I grew up playing basketball, soccer, and baseball, but ended up only playing basketball through high school. I could not imagine my life without sports, which is why I joined ASBO. As a Freshman, I wanted to meet people and get involved somehow and ASBO offered everything I could want. Everyone wanted to watch sports, talk about sports, or work in sports, it was the perfect fit for me. This is now my second year on the Executive Board and I am glad each day that I decided to get involved Freshman year. The friends I’ve made and things I learned are priceless. If someone has any interest in sports I would immediately direct them to ASBO, not just because it’s sports based but because it will make your time at college more enjoyable.

Alex Goodstein

Position: Secretary                                                  Year: Junior                                                        Major: Economics                                Minor: Political Science and Business

Having a huge passion for sports, I always wanted to work in the sports field. I grew up playing almost every sport that you could name, but overall I stuck with Ice Hockey and Track & Field. Going to states and counties for both and nationals for track was an accomplishment. No matter where I am you can see me playing pick up game of anything. I have had an opportunity to work with the UAlbany Athletics Department and High School Nationals for Track and Field. ASBO is truly a calling card for me to work in a sports field that I love and I'm happy to be apart of E-Board.
